If a single tooth is lost due to cavities, periodontal disease, trauma, or replacement of a retained baby tooth, dental implants can restore the empty space regaining function and improving esthetics. Following the controlled and gentle removal of the compromised tooth structure, the cylindrical root shaped implant is placed into the jaw bone. Over a period of 2-6 months, the implant and jawbone fuse together to function as the support for a future crown. After the healing process is complete, an implant abutment is fixed into position, acting as a foundation to which a custom fabricated crown rests.
